OSRBG Results - Show Nr 15
Robertson, Western Cape - 10 October 2014
The OSRBG again joined forces with two other organisations to complete the 6 show event, over two weekends, called the Cape Spring Festival. This time we were in Robertson and formed an integral part of the Robertson Spring Agricultural show.
The 15th show was followed by the SAC@TS 15th show, which was once again followed by the main event of the day, the Chats du Cap 3rd Independent show.
A lare number of visitors who would had never attended a cat show, came to see the cats, as the cat shows formed an integral part of the agricultural show. The cat show exhibitors had great fun enjoying all the attractions found at the event.
Two All Breeds judges officiated at the show, one from SACC and one from WCF. They and awarded "Judges Best", from which one Overall Best on Show was chosen.
The prizes were once again, generously sponsored by Cats Best and the rosettes by Rushfords Rosettes. This was appreciated by all, as all the food companies, supported by our exhibitors, refused sponsorship.
The National SPCA once again insisted that the show management had to apply for a PAPA license, intended for circus animals. The Winelands SPCA inspected the show in a courteous manner and stated that it was under instruction of the NSPCA. This took place in spite of the fact that cat shows have taken place for 80 years without licensing and the fact that the act, written in 1935, specifilically excludes dog shows, caged bird shows "and any such shows" from this act. The act also specifically exclude agricultural shows. The cat show was an integral part of the agricultural show and had no separate entrance, or entrance fee. We need to draw the attention of the inappropriate and threatening actions of the NSPCA to all our cat lovers, who donate to these charities under the impression that their donations are used to help animals in distress.
